Rescue mission — Venezuela. How we protect the sensitive information behind reunification and relief coordination.

Last updated: June 2026

This platform helps reunite families and coordinate relief after the earthquake. We handle sensitive information (names, ages, locations), so we apply concrete measures to protect it.

The information here comes from community sources and is NOT official: it may contain errors or be out of date. Always verify with the relevant authority (hospital, local authorities, Civil Protection) before acting on it.

How we protect the information

  • Minors hidden from the public. Records of people under 18 are not shown on the public reunification pages; they remain available only for coordination with staff and authorities. Only a parent or legal guardian should access that information.
  • Search by name, not a browsable directory. Listings cannot be mass-browsed: results only appear when you type a name, to prevent improper extraction of victims' data.
  • No search-engine indexing. Pages carrying names and ages are marked noindex: they don't appear on Google. Reunification happens inside the app, not on the internet forever.
  • Encryption and secure storage. All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS). Patients' medical files live in private storage and are served only through an access-checked proxy.
  • Source and date visible. Every record shows its source and last-update date, plus a permanent notice that the data is not official.
  • Explicit consent. Before publishing information, the person must accept that the data may contain errors and that their information will be shared publicly and with other rescue platforms.
  • Abuse control. Per-IP and per-phone limits (with hashed identifiers, never plain text) and a content filter that blocks illicit or harmful posts.
  • Data minimization. When integrating external public registries, we query at search time and don't store copies of their personal data; abuse-control identifiers are hashed and expire automatically.

Your rights

  • Correct or remove a record. Every result offers an option to report incorrect data or request removal. We review and act manually; nothing is removed automatically, to prevent malicious manipulation of real data.
  • Withdraw consent. You can ask us to stop sharing your information by writing to us.
  • Accounts and clinical data. Registered users can delete their account from the app (data is anonymized while honoring required medical retention).

Where the data comes from

We combine community reports with public records from other reunification platforms. All of it is collaborative and unofficial. Mass reunification usually requires publishing names so families can find each other; even so, we apply the protections above and honor correction and removal requests.
